photojournal: Lady Nade Sings Nina Simone @ the Prince Albert

Photography by Dom Thompson

Last Sunday 2nd June multi-award winning eclectic Folk and Americana singer-songwriter Lady Nade returned to the Prince Albert, this time as part of a tour performing the iconic and timeless songs of Nina Simone.

The completely sold out crowd were treated to stunning renditions of songs such as Mr. Bojangles, Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, My Baby Just Cares For Me, I Put A Spell On You, I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free and more; “I grew up listening to my grandad’s mix tapes and discovered Nina Simone. She's gone on to have a song for every moment of my life. She’s held me in times of joy, despair, love, laughter and hope. As a black female Nina Simone paved the way for artists of my generation to not give up on their dreams and hopes. I am delighted to be celebrating her life and legacy with some of the UK's top musicians.”

Dom Thompson captured the gig for our ongoing photojournal series…
