On Monday 29th January the Prince Albert hosted a rare visit to Stroud by none other than Michele Stodart; bassist, vocalist and co-songwriter of the Mercury-nominated, double-platinum selling group The Magic Numbers. Accompanied by her band made up of David Ford (bass/electric guitar), Emma Holbrook (drums) and Andy Bruce (keys) she played tracks from her most recent, highly acclaimed album Invitiation which won UK Album of the Year at the UK Americana Awards 2024.
The gig sold out weeks ago and those who were lucky enough to grab a ticket were treated to not just one, but two sets in the intimate, legendary venue at the top of a steep hill…
Support came from Stroud dwelling alt-indie singer songwriter Philippe Nash (featured in our January issue), also with a new release under his belt ‘with his debut album Like A Holy Face due to be released on the 9th Feb following a string of EP’s and singles.
Dom Thompson captured the evening as part of our ongoing photojournal series - a review in pictures not words…
