Thurs 14th Stroud Jazz Sessions with Robert Perry and Periscope Ensemble This month features Robert Perry and Periscope Ensemble in a musical conversation. Robert Perry is a bassist, composer and MD with a bubbling enthusiasm and passion for his art, and an insatiable desire to find new ways to present and perform. Robert launched Periscope Ensemble inviting a group of talented musicians, poets, visual artists and dancers to join him. The eight musicians are invited to consider the written material and interact with the ensemble. The most important outcome is to create a conversation. 8pm £5otd/£3musicians (John Street)
Fri 15th Weird Shit: Graham Dunning - Mechanical Techno A night of weird shit of leftfield contemporary performative artwork. Graham Dunning is self-taught as an artist and musician having studied neither discipline academically. His live work explores sound as texture, timbre and something tactile, drawing on bedroom production, tinkering and recycling found objects. He also creates visual work, video and installations drawing on these themes. Plus sound and performance interventions from Neil Walker and Sean Roe. 8pm £1members/£5otd (John Street)
Sat 16th Round Up #1 : Yazz Ahmed and Ishmael Ensemble An all new monthly event for The Goods Shed. "Round Up" sees Bristol group Ishmael Ensemble team up with d&b audiotechnik for a unique 360 degree soundscape experience. Each month will see a different headline act from the wider Jazz scene perform "in the round" for an intimate and innovative show. The first act to join the ensemble will be British-Bahraini trumpet player and composer, Yazz Ahmed. Through her music, she seeks to blur the lines between jazz and electronic sound design, bringing together the sounds of her mixed heritage in what has been described as ‘psychedelic Arabic jazz, intoxicating and compelling’. 7:30pm £10-£16adv/£20otd (Goods Shed)
