Last Saturday 25th November Jazz music education and artist development organisation Tomorrow’s Warriors in association with Gloucester’s The Music Works and Jazz Stroud brought together a hoard of fresh, young talented Gloucestershire musicians to perform new original works in Stroud’s iconic venue the Goods Shed alongside none other than the renownded jazz drummer, composer, record producer, bandleader and radio host Moses Boyd and pioneering Jazz Drill and Post-Trap saxophonist Xvngo.
“A Grime Supreme develops new musical collaborations between jazz musicians and grime artists, building cross-genre understanding and opening new opportunities to participants. Tomorrow’s Warriors partnered with The Music Works and Jazz Stroud to recruit local musicians for the project. This year’s sessions have featured Moses Boyd, XVNGO and Rider Shafique for guidance through this creative process, which culminated with a perfomance at The Goods Shed in Stroud.”
Good On Paper photographer Dom Thompson headed down to capture the inspiring event for our ongoing photojournal series: “It was so impressive to see such a young collective of aspiring musicians and vocalists assembled together. The excitement and energy bursting from each one of the musicians on stage made for an electric atmosphere at a packed out Goods Shed. Performing original compositions, they delivered soulful rn’b style duets through to frenetic MC collaborations all supported by the house band which was followed by an amazing headline set by Moses Boyd and XVNGO. Hats off to Tomorrow’s Warriors, the Music Works and Jazz Stroud. The musics in good hands.”
