In light of the current situation together with many local events being postponed and cancelled it is with heavy hearts that we announce there will be no April issue of Good On Paper…
It has been an extremely difficult decision to make as it will be the first time in five years that we haven’t produced the magazine, it was due to be the biggest edition we have put together so far (featuring a 12 page festival guide!!) and it is all designed, written and ready to go 😢
Yes it could go on-line however part of our ethos is to celebrate old school print and the articles which are not date specific will be saved and all being well appear in a future printed edition in their non-pixelated glory! And predominantly we are a listings magazine and what’s a listings magazine without listings?
Unfortunately due to the way in which the magazine is put together and funded and with the venues and festivals advertising in the magazine all facing difficult month’s ahead we just feel that it is the right (and possibly only) thing to do. Not to mention the dilemma of promoting events when the advice for many is to stay at home and self-isolate. Just too many things up in the air….
So our future as a printed magazine is difficult to predict in these uncertain times…
However.
We are currently working on exciting regular on-line content for you good people of the Stroud District including Good On Paper TV – self recorded sessions by local musicians, artists, writers, poets, filmmakers and performers whether it be a concert in their rehearsal space/studio, an impromptu stand-up comedy/poetry show, DJ sets, a reading of their own published tome or previous recordings of performances rarely seen or not shown before…
Plus on-line features along the rocky way.
If you subscribe to the magazine – we’ll get in touch soon and refund you
If you have bought tickets to cancelled events and festivals in Stroud – please consider wavering your refund (if you are in a financial position to do so)
If you are stuck at home dribbling for some nice local food – contact local restaurants/diners/food outlets and see if they deliver
If you are stuck at home and dribbling for some nice local beverages – contact your local pub/brewery and see if they deliver
If you feel that you can help others in your community – join the Stroud Coronavirus Community Response group on facebook or visit 👉 neighbournetworks.uk
Don’t panic.
Wash your hands.
Stay safe.
And finally to quote the prophetic boy-band Blue:
System up with the top down
Got the city on lockdown
Drive by in the low ride
Hands high when we fly by
Long live the printed word.
