THE PRINCE ALBERT
Thurs 23rd Jaz Delorean
A travelling performer with a colourful past and a fascinating present. The songs that he sings and plays on the piano are tender observations of our fragile and sometimes twisted existence. Strange things happen in dreams, but stranger things can happen in waking life, and Jaz Delorean has never shied away from baring his tattered soul to anyone willing to listen. He’ll pull at your heartstrings, and get you dancing to the rhythms of his fingers, before skulking off into the blackness behind the neon carnival lights. Delorean is the lead singer and pianist from tearaway live band Tankus the Henge. 8:30pm Free

Sat 25th Haney’s Big House
The planets aligned the night five lost souls gathered in a draughty hall and set up their instruments. Within minutes, they all knew they had finally found their musical kindred spirits, united by a passion for 40’s & 50’s jumpin’, swingin’, rockin’ rhythm & blues. Haney’s Big House was born that night. A five-piece Rhythm & Blues combo playing in the traditional 40’s & 50’s style. Their line-up of drums, double bass, 2 guitars and harmonica, uses largely period–vintage instruments and equipment to create an authentic sound which is the essence of Haney’s Big House….8pm Free

We!rd Sh!t night returns…Dead Days Beyond Help: Alex Ward (guitar/vocals) and Jem Doulton (drums). In their live performances, pieces drawn from all the band's albums sit side by side with free-wheeling improvisational excursions which could involve a leap into either a wall of flattening noise or the most emotionally direct country song. In negotiating this dizzying range of materials, DDBH bypass the pitfalls of irony and the obstacle course of genre by the simple guiding principle: intensity-at-all-costs. Tribe of One: Strange, lonely broadcasts from long dead planets. Found sounds, field recordings, looped snatches of obscure folk recordings from the far reaches of the former Soviet Union.Semi acoustic instruments, some homemade, some from Tibet and Ladakh. Vocal chanting. Long drones…Plus DJ’s Neil Walker (SVA) and Sean Roe (Sound Records). 7:30pm £5otd (John Street)
