Learning Through Theatre: The Breath of Love

A shortened version of Learning Through Theatre’s current show, The Breath of Love performed in Feb 2020 at the Sands Film Studios, London in their purpose built, music hall style theatre as part of Barry Grantham's 4th London Commedia Festival.

Learning Through Theatre
A Stroud based educational theatre company, specialising in Commedia dell’Arte, a 16th century Italian theatre style that featured stock characters, half masks, physical comic gags (lazzi), rehearsed sequences and dialogue improvised around a structured plot outline (canovaccio). As a natural progression from this genre, they also teach physical comedy: farce, slapstick and bouffon, as well as expressionist theatre. In 2015, in response to demand, they began producing Commedia dell’Arte shows that would be accessible and affordable to schools. Their aim is to enable students to experience and learn about this age-old form, first-hand by watching an authentic Renaissance-style troupe present commedia in action.
